A self-contained survey device which generates position data relative to the movement of the host vehicle. it employs a vehicle motion sensor (vms) for converting vehicle odometer cable shaft revolutions into digital data and a self-contained control and display unit (cdu) for operator interface and displaying system mode, status, navigation data, alert information, warnings, and other messages.
