Definition Dead Reckoning Tracer

A device, equipment, or system which receives inputs from the navigational computer or the navigational computer-indicator of north and east positional component signals of ship's travel and displays a continuous graphical recording of ship's movement. It may compute and indicate continuously ship's position in latitude and longitude, and may contain a range-bearing projector which projects a light image in the form of a compass rose on the plotting surface or may utilize a display with compass-rose to indicate directional relationships for navigation purposes.
