The fire direction modem ii (fdm ii) serves as a self contained frequency shift key (fsk) modem. It is designed to be combat radio net compatible. Fdm ii receives its initialization data from the modem server. Currently the data that is entered into the comms setup screens (comms csci) are not sent to the modem. For example, data rate and block data are not used by the fdm ii. However: you must enter the correct addressing so that messages will be sent to the correct subscriber. Components of the fdm ii: com port cable-connects between the fdm ii and com port i, tcim cable-connects between fdm ii and either the radio or tcim, fdm ii: front of the fire direction modem, fdm ii: rear of the fire direction modem.
