The direction finding unit - drs (dfu-d), used with c-130, hosts a df processor and receiver used to compare signal quality from the df antenna and determine the angle of arrival of selected signals. Weight: 19 lbs.
The unit functions as a server between the main system computer in the surveillance information processingcenter and the airborne digital processing unit in each flight line test. The unit accepts direction finding, built-in-test and mode command requests from the main system computer over the local area network and commands the aircraft to carry out direction finding processing. Carries out built-in-test and reports status containing flight line test set inertial navigation system data. Te unit may also obtain the current system data. Te unit may also obtain the current system time from the global positioning satellite system
