Definition Electrical Conduit Elbow

An item fabricated in the form of an elbow and having both ends threaded female, or with unthreaded connecting facilities on both ends, or connecting facilities on both ends, one of which is a male thread without boss or shoulder. If a locknut or bondnut is included, it shall not be considered as a thread boss or shoulder. It is primarily intended to connect conduit to conduit. It may have a removable cover to facilitate pulling wires, but does not include facilities for mounting wiring devices. For items having a removable cover to facilitate pulling wires and specifically designed for close installation in exposed outdoor locations and which may have facilities for an outside driven ground, see entrance elbow, electrical. For items with one end having a male thread with a boss or shoulder, see box connector, electrical. For items having a removable screw cap for pulling wires, with the cap positioned 45 degrees from the connection facilities, see entrance elbow, electrical. For items fabricated in the form of an elbow having both ends threaded male, see bend, electrical conduit.
